Google bombarded us with numerous messages urging us to initiate the migration from Universal Analytics (UA) to Google Analytics 4 (GA4). The persistent fear-inducing tactics caused anxiety among stakeholders, resulting in a significant increase in my workload over the past few months. To facilitate the transition, I utilized the API to recreate all UA properties, a substantial number of properties amounting to hundreds, within the new GA4 setup. My objective was to allow GA users, some of whom possess admin access, to continue accessing their old UA data if they required any historical information that I had not yet collected. Now, our company is entirely migrated to GA4, and we are prepared for the upcoming changes in July. However, it seems that as soon as I successfully completed the migration, Google swiftly brought me back down to earth.
Is Google seriously expecting me to opt-out manually for each property? Why the punishment? Is there a way to opt-out using the UA API or GA4 API? Can I opt-out all properties in my organization at once? I fear the tracking mess this could create, and I'm concerned about other admins unknowingly fulfilling the opt-out prompt.
